“Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes, but when we look back everything is different.”
― C.S. Lewis
Kumar is a behavioural therapist at Thrive Psychology Clinic.
Kumar is a heart-led practitioner experienced in supporting children/adolescents presenting with developmental, social, behavioural, or emotional regulation challenges across diverse settings, from early childhood through the teenage years. Having previously worked as an Early Interventionist and Associate Psychologist, he brings both clinical knowledge and compassionate presence to his work with children and their families.
Kumar draws on a range of evidence-based approaches, including Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Behaviour Therapy, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), and play-based techniques. He applies these strategies in a flexible, child-centred way; whether by using play to create a safe space for building social skills, or by integrating structured behavioural techniques to support emotional regulation and independence. A strong believer in child-led therapy, Kumar views behaviour as a form of communication and follows each child’s pace to better understand and address their needs. Collaboration is central to Kumar’s practice. He works closely with families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure that interventions are both meaningful and sustainable.
From conducting holistic assessments to setting developmental goals, he partners with parents to make therapy a supportive journey where progress is celebrated, and challenges are met with understanding. He strongly believe in community support in helping with the clients progression.
Kumar believes that every child has the capacity to grow when nurtured in an environment of consistency, patience, and respect. He is especially drawn to supporting children who struggle with socialisation, behavioural challenges, and emotional regulation difficulties, and he sees each challenge as an opportunity to uncover a child’s resilience and potential. Ultimately, his goal is to help individuals lead more autonomous lives and live to the fullest of their abilities, supported by confidence, resilience, and self-trust.
Kumar holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychological Sciences and is committed to ongoing professional growth. He is currently pursuing a Master’s in Developmental Psychology while continuing to expand his therapeutic skills through training, research, and supervision. His calm nature, adaptability, patience and reflective style allows him to create safe and empowering spaces where children can learn, explore, and thrive.
Outside of his therapeutic work, Kumar enjoys reading, playing video games, and weightlifting activities that reflect both his reflective and grounded nature.
