“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”

– Ralph Waldo Emerson

Chermaine is a clinical support staff at Thrive Psychology Clinic.

Chermaine is a Psychology major at the University at Buffalo, deeply passionate about understanding human behavior and mental health. Currently, she is interning at Thrive Psychology, where she is gaining valuable hands-on exposure to clinical practices, client interactions, and evidence-based therapeutic approaches. This experience has allowed her to bridge academic knowledge with real-world application, further fueling her commitment to the field of psychology.

In addition to her academic pursuits, she has extensive experience teaching and mentoring students. She takes pride in fostering supportive learning environments and working closely with children, an experience that has sharpened her communication skills, patience, and ability to connect meaningfully with others.

Her decision to pursue psychology stems from both personal and professional observations of how mental health shapes lives and relationships. She aspires to continue her training after graduation, gaining professional experience before advancing to a master’s degree, with the long-term goal of opening her own practice. Her vision is to provide accessible, compassionate, and effective mental health support, particularly to children and young people who are often overlooked in traditional settings.
